Dan Cullinane

State Senator Brian A. Joyce of Milton & Suffolk County Sheriff Steve Tompkins of Hyde Park back Dan Cullinane for 12th Suffolk State Representative

Boston, MA – More than 150 friends, supporters and undecided voters packed into the William E. Carter Post in Mattapan for Tuesday’s “Stand With Dan” campaign rally to hear Dan Cullinane outline his vision for the future of the 12th Suffolk District. Cullinane watched as two key figures in the 12th Suffolk race, State Senator Brian A. Joyce of Milton and Suffolk County Sheriff Steven Tompkins, took to the microphone to endorse his candidacy to succeed Linda Dorcena Forry.

“I've known and worked with Dan Cullinane for years. He is ready on day 1 to represent us and fight for the issues we care about. That's why I have endorsed Dan Cullinane for State Representative,” said State Senator Brian A. Joyce.

Suffolk County Sheriff Steven Tomkins followed, “I know Dan Cullinane to be a man of integrity who possesses a deep commitment to the role of government and public service. He impresses with his ability to express sound judgment and I believe he has the will and the ability to forge the broad political consensus that the constituents of the 12 Suffolk are looking for in their State Representative. Accordingly, I proudly endorse Dan Cullinane!"

Cullinane was then introduced by his wife, Emily Torres-Cullinane, who, as a first generation Colombian American spoke about the importance of the immigrant story and cultural identity. She said Dan, “taught her the true meaning of community” and that “his tireless and proven commitment to public service makes him the best candidate.”

Cullinane delivered a passionate speech beginning by thanking his parents, “Only through your love, your courage and your sacrifice, I am standing here today. When you adopted me at four-months old, you gave me a life of opportunity that far too few children are given,” Cullinane said. “I know how lucky I am. My personal story both grounds me and fuels my firm belief that no child’s future - in Massachusetts - in the 21st Century - should be limited by where they are born, what neighborhood they live in, or how much money their family may have.”
