(MATTAPAN) – Today in Mattapan Square, Congressman Mike Capuano of the 7th Congressional District of Massachusetts officially endorsed State Representative Dan Cullinane of the 12th Suffolk district. Congressman Capuano represents 16 of the 17 precincts that make up the 12th Suffolk district in Washington – Dorchester, Mattapan, Hyde Park, and Milton. Congressman Capuano joined numerous community leaders from Mattapan in giving Representative Cullinane high marks for his accessibility, persistence, and for delivering results in his first nine months in office.

“Dan Cullinane has earned our support. I respect him - not just as a politician - I respect him as a human being because he is in this for the right reasons. Dan has delivered for the people of the 12th Suffolk district,” Congressman Capuano said.“He works well with people inside and outside the district. Dan brings people together, which gives him the ability to bring a lot of resources to the community. He is exactly the type of person we want in politics. That is why I am here – he has earned our support and deserves our help. I am proud to endorse Dan’s re-election.”

“I am honored to have the support of Congressman Capuano, a true progressive leader who is a tireless advocate for Massachusetts families and a consistent voice for those in our community whoare in need,” State Representative Cullinane said. “As a former alderman and mayor, Congressman Capuano knows the vital importance of strong local government delegations working together for the betterment of the communities we serve. I am grateful for the confidence and trust he has placed in me to be re-elected to serve the people of the 12th Suffolk district as State Representative.”

Congressman Mike Capuano was first elected to the U.S.House of Representatives in 1999. He has been re-elected 7 times and has built a reputation as one of the hardest working progressive legislators in Washington. Congressman Capuano currently serves on the Financial Services Committee, the Committee on Ethics, and the Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure. He has founded four congressional caucuses, and was formerly an alderman and mayor in the city of Somerville.

State Representative Dan Cullinane was elected last year with 75% of the vote in a three person special election to succeed now State Senator Linda Dorcena Forry. Representative Cullinane also previously served as the Director of Constituent Services for former State Representative and current Mayor of Boston Martin J. Walsh.

Congressman Capuano joins Mayor Marty Walsh and State Representative Russell Holmes in endorsing Representative Cullinane's re-election campaign.
